According to Daily Trust, a resident of the area, who identified himself as Musa, said the accused lured the girl, with some money, into his room at about 7:12p.m. on Saturday.
Musa said though the landlord and the tenant did not stay in the same compound, the accused might have taken advantage of the girl whom all the tenants usually send on errands.
He said the accused, identified as Yunusa, had sent the girl on the errand and when she returned, he lured her into his room where he had carnal knowledge of her.
Musa said the girl’s mother raised alarm about her whereabouts when she did not turn up for dinner.
She was directed to the Yunusa’s room by another neighbour who saw when the girl came to buy something for him from his shop.
“When the mother and one of the brothers went in search of her, the girl was seen in the tenant’s room half naked,” he said.
He said the incident drew the attention of youths who beat up the man before he was rescued by police men attached to the Gosa Police Outpost who were on patrol.
Our reporter learnt that the father of the girl was not at home when the incident happened.
A police officer at Gosa Police Outpost who preferred anonymity as he was not cleared to speak to the press confirmed the incident.
He said the accused would be charged to court after investigation was concluded.
