Obasanjo Makes A Surprise Appearance At PDP Convention Committee Inauguration |PoliFocus

Eighteen months after he voluntarily withdrew his membership of the People Democratic Party (PDP) and presided over the tearing of his party membership card by his ward leader in Ogun State, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, may be finding his way back to the party through which he presided for eight years as President of Nigerria.


According to Nigerian Times, Obasanjo, to the surprise of PDP members and journalists, showed up at the Yar’Adua Centre venue of the party’s Convention Committee inauguration.

It was not clear what exactly took the former statesman to the venue as he refused to field questions but sources say the former leader, who led the charge against his former party during the 2015 Presidential elections, is miffed with the inability of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, which it lent moral support during the elections, to control the worsening economic situation in the country.
