Nigerians have been reacting to the advice of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor E. A. Adeboye.


In a video that went viral, Pastor Adeboye was quoted to have stated emphatically that men should marry a woman that can cook very well and also women that always pray for 1 hour everyday, among others.

A Facebook user, Kingsley Udeme Mbaka wrote:

"This man is teaching his followers his opinion not the scriptures where did he quote from the bible to validate this misleading statement. Adeboye is so wrong for giving that kind of advice I pity the fools that will follow it. Wife is just helper not slave if cooking isn't her thing and you the man can live with her that way no scripture forbids it. Love covers all thing like Oluto rightly quoted. I heard he also said if she can't pray for atleast an hour non stop she should not be married hmmmm the bible condemns repetition in prayer and long prayers don't impress God after saying what you have to say stop talking Mathew 6:7,8 so long prayer is a waste of time unless your problems is that long that you won't repeat them while praying for an hour.

"My Broda the only thing I expect here is some blind followers coming here to say don't talk ill of a man of God well I want to first declare that I don't believe him as a man of God o he is a human like me and you so if he says anything that has no scriptural backing I'm bold enough to say Mr Adeboye is WRONG!"

Ok o good advice should be off the church sha if me and you dey drink beer I come advice you it's different people take things from the church more seriously so ifthe bible is silent on a subject and no principles from it forbids it it's dangerous to make a rule from it.

If a woman cannot cook or pray at least 1 hour you should not marry her didn't sound like I suggest.
My broda the Man is ignorant on this one who send amgive that kind advice something Jesus didn't dare to give you think say people no marry during Jesus day?

Hahahahahahha no mind me I just dey vex the way some of this supposed men of God dey carry themselves and their followers sha with the whole Oracle of God story Abegi.
Shey na Him dey assist Jesus christ personally? Why do people dey worship this man sef?

I respect people too but I don't believe anyone is closer to God than me. We are all children of God and all of is called.
The only mediator between man and God is christ not any pastor so if one can't pray to God and get solution no man can pray it out for you. Yea things happen and people believe it's the man of God prayer that brought about solution sadly things can just happen.
Jesus say we must pray to our father not that someone should pray to him for us."

"Baba no suppose talk this, she can learn in her husband house if she's such a virtuous woman.
Some women got spoilt by their parents and at the same time did not have opportunity of mixing with other people till they moved on to their respective matrimonial home.
What I ll never advice guys on is the possessive , heartless n rebellious type of woman."

He went further by saying

"To some extent baba was right but generally speaking, praying for an hour can't really shows if such woman is devilish or not. Imagine one certain pastor wife in Lagos caught his husband scrotum during a scuffle n broke it. The man died from that incident. Cooking n praying antics can only be used as criteria for marrying. My opinion.

Now you know. But to be frank, truthful n upright men of God do say this time without number. those women with such familiar spirit always stay closer to men of God or famously rich figures."
