Ondo Guber: APC Group Rallies Support For Tinubu’s Annoited Candidate Segun Abraham |PoliFocus

Barely forty-eight hours to the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, a group within the party, Council of APC Muslims, has urged members of the party to support the endorsed aspirant of the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed bythe chairman and secretary of the group, Dr. Abdulwahab Adegbenro, and Alhaji Ehinola Ahmed, respectively, in Akure, the state capital.

The statement, which was issued on Wednesday, called on the party’s members to embrace peace inthe countdown to the primary.Tinubu had reportedly endorsed one of the party’s governorship aspirants, Dr. Segun Abraham, as the candidate of the party for the forthcoming November 26, governorship election in the state.

The group said there was the need for the party members to accept the decision of the national leader, stressing that the decision would be in the interest of the party and the state in general.

The statement read, “The position of the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, should be adhered to during the primary slated for August 27,2016.”

The group said it unequivocally threw its weight behind what it described as a laudable decision of the national leader, calling on all APC members in the state to see reasons why the decision was better for the party.

Meanwhile, the ‘anointed’ candidate of Tinubu has expressed confidence in winning the primary of the party on Saturday and becoming the candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

He stated this while addressing the members of the party in Irele and Ese-Odo local government areas of the state on Wednesday.

Abraham, who said the party would defeat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the governorship election, maintained that the economic fortunes of the state would change for the better if he became the governor of the state.

In his speech, a former chairman of the party, Mr. Olusola Iji, warned delegates not to make the mistake of electing a candidate who was not vastly experienced in the areas of wealth creation and revenue generation. -Punch
