Ondo Guber: Jimoh Ibrahim Sues PDP Over Ondo Governorship Primary Election |PoliFocus

The Group Managing Director of Global Fleets and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Jimoh Ibrahim, has dragged the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee of the party to court, Daily Trust reports.

The suit, which was filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja, is challenging Monday’s conduct of the primary for the party’s governorship candidate for the November 26 election in the state.

Joined as defendants in the suit are SenatorsBen Obi, Odion Ugbesia, and Abdul Ningi.

Hearing in the matter was stalled on Monday after counsel to Ibrahim, Oyodele Oyelana, told the court that he could not effect service of the court papers on the defendants.

He therefore applied for adjournment. Others are Karibu Usman, Dayo Adeyeye, Aisha Aliyu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

But defence counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), asked the judge to adjourn the case till after the vacation because the non-service of the papers had shown lack of urgency in the matter.

Recall that the Makarfi-led caretaker committee held the Ondo State governorship election primary on Monday, where Eyitayo Jegede emerged the PDP candidate for the governorship election.

He polled 760 votes to defeat Saka Lawal with 22 votes.
