The author, a renowned Professor of Political Science, John Paden who had earlier written the biography of the Northern Nigerian Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, said he has great hope in Nigeria, a country with great potentials.
The Governor of Ogun State in South West Nigeria Mr Ibikunle Amusun said the book is dedicated to Nigeria as a nation and to the unity of the country under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari who for most of his life has fought for the unity of Nigeria from the civil war inthe 60s to the present war against boko haram.
The leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Lagos State, Ahmed Tinubu, while reviewing the book described president Buhari as a man with resilience and persistent vision who never gives up in what he pursues.He said collectively, members of the ruling party “invested minds, body and souls to the Nigerian project and ensured victory for the party”,adding that “Buhari never gave up, never doubted nor feared the course the party leadership took”.
A former American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr John Campbell who predicted that Nigeria will break up in 2015, was at the meeting and eulogized President Buhari and called for a stronger tie between Nigeria and America.
“Nigeria is important to Africa, the USA and the entire world”.He said as a pluralistic nation, Nigeria is playing agood example in Africa in terms of promoting democracy I the continent.
A one time Governor of Imo State in South east Nigeria, now Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbunaya Onu, observed that either as military head of state or civilian president, Muhammadu Buhari never allowed rebels or insurgents to occupy an inch of Nigerian soul.
He recalled that in the early 90s, Buhari had to chase out Chadian rebels who had entered Nigeria just the way he has given a deadly blow to boko haram that once hoisted flags in a number of local governments in some states of north east Nigeria.
Speaking as a conflict resolution expert, a former Nigerian Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Professor Ibrahim Gambari said governments should learn to form all inclusive governments after winning elections so that collectively, people will develop society.
Former Nigerian leaders, General Yakubu Gowon and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo all described President Buhari as a man of impeccable character and a man who abhors corruption.
The President of Niger Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou and his Chadian Counterpart Idriss Derby, graced the occasion. The Nigerien President said Nigeria has always taken the lead in the fight against boko haram and is leading ECOWAS nation in terms of security, trade and commerce and showing good example in the practice of democracy in the region.
President Buhari on his part simply thanked those who attended and the author who took time to painstakingly write the book which some of the chief launchers said would be supplied to all tertiary institution in Nigeria.
Politicians, traditional and religious leaders, governors, ministers, diplomats, the service chiefs and heads of paramilitary agencies, captains of industries and members of the organized private sector, attended the book launch.
