Forgery Tracker: Federal Court Strikes Out Forgery Case Against Saraki, Ekweremadu |PoliFocus

A high court in Abuja on Friday, October 7, 2016 has granted the application of the Nigerian presidency to withdraw the forgery charge against Bukola Saraki, senate president, and Ike Ekweremadu, his deputy.

Yusuf Halilu, the judge, struck out the entire suit against the duo, alongside Salisu Maikasuwa, former clerk of the national assembly, and Ben Efeturi, his deputy.

They were accused of forging the senate standing rules that led to the emergence of Saraki and Ekweremadu as leadership of the senate in June 2015.

On Thursday, the presidency moved to withdraw the charges against the senate leaders in a move speculated to be a political calculation to boost President Muhammadu Buhari’s support base in his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
