Tennis: Andy Murray Wins 7-6 6-2 Against Kyle Edmund In China Open Quarter-final |PoliFocus

World No2 Andy Murray beat fellow Briton Kyle Edmund 7-6 (11-9) 6-2 to make the China Open semi-finals.

Wimbledon champion Murray, 29, came through atight first set that went to a tie-break, but found himself a break down early in the second.


But 21-year-old Edmund, who will rise into the top 50 after beating Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut to make the least eight, then lost three straight service games to allow Murray through.

Murray will face Spain’s David Ferrer in the last four who he beat in January in the quarter final of the Australia Open.

Murray came through 7‑6, 6-2 in an hour and 50 minutes but was pushed all the way by British No2 Edmund in Beijing.

Edmund matched Murray in an enthralling first set that lasted an hour and six minutes but the Scot ultimately had the extra nous to take a tie-break 11-9.
