Ewo!! Abuja Court Sentence Man To 3 Months Imprisonment For Stealing Wheelbarrow

A Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old man, Aminci Ishaku, to three months imprisonment for stealing a wheelbarrow.

The defendant, a resident of Kagini village, near Kubwa, was charged with theft, an offence he admitted committing.

The presiding judge, Mr Ahmed Marafa in his judgment, sentenced the defendant to three months imprisonment with an option of N5,000 fine.

“For others, who are into this sort of business, this should serve as a deterrent; we must not continue to receive such cases every day.

“I just hope people learn from others who have been caught,” he said.

The prosecutor, Lucas Ephraim, had told the court that the defendant was reported at the Kubwa Police Station on Sept 5 by one Ahmed Sadiq.

According to Ephraim, the defendant acted in a dubious manner and dishonestly stole the item from the complainant.

He put the value of the wheel barrow at N8,200 while the convict sold it for N2,500.

Ephraim said that the offence contradicted Section 257 of the Penal Code.
