Miss Philippines addresses Miss Universe 2015 embarrassment

Recently crowned Miss Universe 2015, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach has opened up on the embarrassment that ushered in her victory.

Pia who represented Philippines at the just concluded pageant, was crowned 2015 Miss Universe on Sunday, Dec. 20 after the host, Steve Harvey made a major blunder by announcing the 1st runner up, Miss Colombia as winner before coming back on stage to correct himself.

The 26-year-old beauty while speaking with
Entertainment Tonight about the major mishap, said: “I was confused. I wasn’t sure what was going on. I didn’t expect that to happen at all.”

“I had to ask my [manager] many times like, ‘Did I really win? Am I really Miss Universe? Are you going to take the crown from me now?’ And they [said], ‘No, no, you’re really the winner,’” Pia added.

Pia further disclosed she still hasn’t spoken to the erroneously crowned Miss Colombia, saying the time isn’t right.

In her words: “She was crying and then there was a crowd around her, the girls who were comforting her.

I was actually very close to her already, but I decided that maybe it was bad timing to do it now — to apologize to her for what happened. So maybe I’ll do that in the future.”
