Several people injured after bus collided with car and crashed into office building in Peterborough, England

Several people have been injured after a bus collided with a car and crashed into an office building in Peterborough.

It happened at around 12.30pm and the air ambulance is at the scene, along with two fire crews, five police cars, and two ambulances.

The local fire and rescue service says it has managed to free two people from the car. Drivers are being asked to avoid the Broadway area of the town.

The East of England ambulance service says it treated 13 people, and seven were taken to hospital. None of them are in a critical condition.

Motorists are being advised to stay away from the area.
Sky's Mark White said: "It's a busy area of town. We have reports of several injuries, and fire crews have been involved in trying to free people from a car.

"We don't know about the extent of the injuries, other than that the air ambulance was called and is on standby."

The Peterborough Telegraph newspaper said one eyewitness said it looked like the front of the office building was being held up by the bus.

A structural engineer was called to assess severe damage to the building and a gas engineer isolated the mains.

It is understood that all of the office workers are out of the building.

Station commander Jamie Johnson said: "The emergency services have worked extremely well together to successfully rescue and treat casualties.

"Severe damage has also been caused to a building as a result of the collision."
