First private radio station in Cross River goes on air

A new radio station, Hit FM, has commenced test transmission in Calabar.

The station, which is the first private broadcast outfit in Cross River State, is expected to deliver the best radio entertainment to the people of Cross River State, and it seeks to be Africa’s premier lifestyle radio station.

Hit FM will run a 24-hour operation, focusing on musicals and talks, and will broadcast, in addition to the latest and best music, entertainment news, topical news, sports, traffic and weather information.

“Our vision is to create top quality lifestyle auditory entertainment that covers key areas that people connect with”, the station’s CEO, Patrick Ugbe, stated, adding that although Hit FM’s core target is 15 – 45-year-olds, the station will create content that will cut across all age groups.

“We will create an audience-focused radio platform that draws in every listener through novel and unique radio programming and broadcast design”, he added.

With very modern digital broadcast equipment and young and dynamic On Air Personalities (OAPs), Ugbe said the station hopes to revolutionise radio broadcast in Cross River and its environs.
