Buhari appoints Bukar-Abba as acting chairman of Federal Character Commission

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr Shettima Bukar-Abba as the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

Mr Chucks Okoli, the Deputy Director, Planning and Strategy of the commission, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

NAN reports that Bukar-Abba’s appointment followed the demise of Alhaji Muhammad Bello Alkali, the former Executive Chairman of the Commission, last Friday.

Okoli said that until his appointment on Monday, Bukar-Abba, a seasoned civil servant, was the Federal Commissioner representing Borno State in the commission.

He said that the Acting Executive Chairman, who was also a two time Secretary to the Borno State Government, had assumed duty.
