FOREX BAN UPDATE: Banks Comply, Lift Ban On Foreign Cash Deposits

Respite has come to the way of Nigerians as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has made u-turn on its purported ban on forex trading and usage of naira-denominated Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards abroad.

This was confirmed by the email Heritage Bank sent to its customers. The message reads:

"RESUMPTION OF FOREIGN CURRENCY CASH DEPOSITS

We are pleased to inform you that you can now make Foreign Currency Cash deposits into your Heritage Bank domiciliary account at any of our Experience Centre.

This is in line with the directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued on January 11,2016 authorising Commercial Banks in Nigeria to resume acceptance of Foreign Cash Deposits."
