INEC Ready To Substitute Eyitayo Jegede's Name With Jomoh Ibrahim As Ondo PDP Candidate |PoliFocus

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to remove the name of Eyitayo Jegede and replace it with that of Ibrahim Jimoh as the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) candidate for next month's governorship election in Ondo State, reports NewsDay.


The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Rotimi Oyekamni, saidon Sunday that the commission would abide by the order to accept Ibrahim when served with the valid court judgement.

Justice  Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had on Friday ordered INEC to accept Ibrahim as the candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, reports.

The NationAbang ruled that “INEC should accept for the conduct of Ondo state governorship election only the nomination of Ibrahim for Ondo PDP.

Oyekamni said INEC as a creation of the law would obey any order validly made by a court of competentjurisdiction.
He said if there is another court order that is superior to the earlier one, the commission will also reverse its action. -News24
