EXCLUSIVE: Opinion: Economic Recession: Is President Muhammadu Buhari On Vacation? |PoliFocus

The present economic situation of Nigeria is worrisome and nothing to write home about. It is no longer news that it is now in recession, which can literally means that it is in comatose.

Since the emergence of the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari Nigeria and Nigerians have been experiencing negative changes but this doesn't mean that no positive changes in some sectors, like security.

Buhari who was elected overwhelming by majority of Nigerians due on a platter of probity and unparalleled antecedents in the area of corruption in the last 2015 general election is now being accused of 'nepotism'.

The lop-sided appointments made by Buhari can't but be linked to this dismal failure in the economy, because experienced hands have been shut out due to favoritism.

I asked this poser because what we are seeing and experiencing as Nigerians is a total departure from the lofty electioneering promises made to us during the build-up to the election.

Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye during the weekend called for the sack of the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, Minister for budget and implementation, Udoma and the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele.

I support the outspoken senator, the economic being paraded by Buhari if they truly exist is an insult to the nation. They are set of economic dummies.

Nothing seems to work. Prices of products are jumping up in geometric progression. Everyone is wailing.

The only thing that this present government is enjoying is the 'trust and believe' in Buhari’s person but I'm afraid, it may soon be history.

It is high time Buhari woke up to reality. He should put his house in order by reshuffling his cabinet members.

Enough of putting round pegs on square holes. Putting lawyers in offices where technocrats are needed will not only slow down the pace of the process but will bring down the government.

All Nigerians are looking forward to Buhari to act. It is good to recover loots but shouldn't be at the expense of good governance.

Buhari should remember that people voted him to do what PDP failed to do but presently average Nigerian prefers the rule of PDP to the ruling APC now.

Issue of forex should be given priority. Let me conclude by saying that Buhari should jettison the proposed tax on calls and texts messages and further increase in pump price of petrol.... To avoid available mass protest by the angry and hungry Nigerians.

It truly Buhari is on vacation, he should resume now.

I believe in better Nigeria, and it is achievable!
