What? 40-year-old Teacher Defiles 6-month-old Baby In Yobe, Destroys Her Intestines.... Rumour Has It That Police Have Granted Him Bail |PoliFocus

One Shaaibu Yakubu, a 40-year-old deaf teacher in Potiskum, Yobe State, has allegedly defiled a 6-month-old baby girl.

The teacher was said to have been arrested on September 1, for raping the minor until her intestines got destroyed.

Reports which trended on twitter over the weekend under the hashtag #JusticeForHajara, had it that the culprit allegedly admitted to his crime and is out on bail.

Meanwhile, the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Defence Corps, NSCDC, Muhammad Gidado Fari, was quoted to have said Yakubu Abdullahi, was arrested by men of the NSCDC for allegedly raping the baby in the Potiskum area of Yobe state, noting that the deaf teacher allegedly connived with his 10-year-old student, who carried the baby to him from her neighbour’s house and he defiled her.

Fari said although Abdullahi denied the allegation, the 10-year-old student identified him in a group picture of staff and student taken in the school, adding that the suspected rapist was arrested after a non-governmental organization, National Council of Women Society, NCWS, reported the situation to the corps.

Fari however stated that the matter had been reported to the state’s Ministry of Justice for prosecution as the case needed a professional in sign language to interpret.

The President of NCWS, Halima Kyari Joda, on her Twitter handle said the baby was taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for examination and proper treatment.

Some Nigerians on the social media have blasted the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, for reportedly granting bail to the alleged rapist.
As the news of the suspect’s freedom from police custody continue to trail, Nigerians have taken a swipe at the NPF.

Meanwhile, the Yobe State Police Command is yet to react to the report.
