Ekiti To Spend N160m On Community-based Projects |PoliFocus

Ekiti State Government is set to commit not less than N160 million to ccommunity-based projects in communities spread across the 16 local government areas of the state.

As part of getting the affected communities involved in the exercise, the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday held a meeting with community leaders and the management of the Ekiti State Community and Social Development Agency (EKSCDA) in Ado-Ekiti.

In a statement by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, at least two communities are expected to benefit from the projects in each local government area.

The projects include water, electricity, health facilities, roads, culverts among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Fayose who gave the approval for the projects, said the communities had to be involved because they were in the best position to know what they really need.
He added that due to inflation, the costs of some of the projects would be reviewed.

While soliciting the support of the people for the government, the governor charged the community leaders to go home and tell their people of the need for them to always carefully analyse the mis-information being churned out by the opposition.

He noted that the campaign of hatred against his person and administration was meant by the opposition to set the people against him.

He regretted that the state was being given the reputation of where people pull others down.

"The effect of this is that the state does not have many people at the top and we are losing. It is only in Ekiti that people write the highest number of petitions to bring others down. Some people place more importance on their personal interest than Ekiti's corporate interest.

"Two persons can't be the state governor at the same time, but we need to support whoever God has placed there. It is a matter of time. Exercise patience, whoever is there now has a tenure and others will take over at their own time. We must constantly sheave through the false information and propaganda being churned out by the opposition. God has brought me back to be governor and will see me through," he said.
