FIFA President Gianni Infantino Unveils Yobo As Ambassador Of NPFL |PoliFocus

Joseph Yobo, a former captain of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has been unveiled as the ambassador of the Nigerian Football League by the President of the World’s football governing body.


FIFA, Mr. Gianni Infantino.Mr. Infantini, who is on a two-day working visit to Nigeria, unveiled the former Everton defensive maestro in Abuja on Monday, July 25, 2016.

Yobo took to Twitter to announce the unveiling to his fans.

“Honored to be unveiled @LMCNPFL Ambassador by @FIFA President Gianni Infantino. We must develop our Local League.” Yobo Tweeted.

The League Management Company is tappingthe experience and networks of the former Super Eagles and Everton FC Skipper to promote the local league and make it more attractive.

Yobo, who has been capped 101 times, represented the Super Eagles at three FIFA World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

He led the team to win the 2013 AFCON in South Africa before announcing hisretirement after the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
