Governors Owing Workers' Salaries Are Wicked —TUC President Kaigama |PoliFocus

The Trade Union Congress, TUC, President, Bobboi Bala Kaigama, yesterday described as sheer wickedness the act of some governors owing salaries of civil servants in the states for over eight months, accusing some governors of looting their state treasury.

Kaigama stated this in an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during the 3rd Quadrennial Delegates Conference put together by the congress.

He noted that many governors were owing workers’ salaries and yet they were moving freely as if nothing was happening. According to Kaigama, “Many of our governors are guilty of massive looting of the treasury, thereby causing miseries in the process.

There is no excuse that can be given to justify owing workers’ salaries for eight or nine months.“This is nothing but sheer wickedness; to pillage the treasury and leave workers to go home for months without salaries.”

He said for the nation to achieve meaningful development, workers’ welfare should be paramount to both the states and federal governments.

He added, “We in the association believe very strongly that time has come for our dear country to develop a new economic model that will take into consideration the variables that are relevant and consistent to the Nigerian situation.”
